The Corrosion Behavior of WEDM Machined Stainless Steels in a Pyrolysis Environment

Pyrolysis represents one of the most convenient technologies for chemical transformation waste. The exposure to corrosion products and high temperatures does, however, require chemically resistant construction materials. This study was carried out analyze behavior 1.4571 (AISI 316Ti) 1.4305 303) stainless steels machined with wire electric discharge machining (WEDM) in a pyrolysis environment. Different parameters were used both materials tested examine influence WEDM machining. total testing time environment 28 days, chamber being refilled 12 times. surface topography analyzed following WEDM, cleaning, test. morphology cross-section analyses using electron microscopy at all three stages process. An analysis composition surfaces as well which samples exposed. It established that organic acids found did not degrade meaningful degree. Minor fissures, is, fine precipitated carbides, observed on steel types their subsurface layer, significant presence carbon. directly connected impurities after removal from test furnace probably protective or passivation nature.
